This week's photo of the week comes from the Kelly and John's Wedding at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Brooklyn Heights. I made this image just before the bride's father gave her away. I made this image using my Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II lens at a focal length of 185mm, aperture of f/2.8, and exposure of 1/400th of a second at ISO 3200.

This past weekend I shot Stephanie and John's wedding at Westbury Manor on Long Island. The ceremony and reception were during the day, which resulted in some nice natural light coming through the windows where the guestbook happened to be situated. I made this image of one of the wedding guests writing a note to the bride and groom using my 85 mm f/1.4 lens at an aperture of f/2.8 and exposure of 1/80th of a second at ISO 800.

I got to meet the fun young lady, seen here playing with her mom's scarf, this past weekend and caught this moment. I love the interaction and expression in this picture. I made this image using my Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 lens at an aperture of f/1.4 and exposure of 1/640th of a second at ISO 800.

Photo of the Week 10/31/11

I have been waiting for a while to take some wedding pictures in the rain as it can be really nice when lit with an off-camera flash. However, I did not expect to be photographing a couple in the falling snow in the final weekend of October this year. The unseasonable weather did nothing to diminish the special day for my great couple and presented us with this opportunity for some neat photos. I made this image using my Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 lens at a focal length of 70mm at an aperture of f/2.8 and exposure of 1/100th of a second at ISO 1600.

This past weekend I got to meet my friends Will and Caroline's first child on what was just the sixth day of his life. Naturally, I took a few pictures of the little guy. This image was made using my Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 micro lens at an aperture of f/3.2 and shutter speed of 1/500th of a second at ISO 800.

I spent this past weekend in Lake Tahoe, California on a ski trip with some friends. I caught this candid image of one member of the group and the son of two of the others in the morning. I particularly like the lighting in this image and the way it authentically captures a very brief moment in time. This image was made using my Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 lens at an aperture of f/2.8 and exposure of 1/16oth of a second at ISO 200.

Photo of the Week 9/7/09

I captured this image at a portrait session for a couple that recently welcomed their first child into the world. Portrait sessions are often viewed as highly staged affairs. I prefer to give little direction and simply try to capture people and their interactions as naturally as possible. I know the new father in this image quite well and feel this picture does a good job of capturing his interaction with and emotion for his young daughter.

This image was made outside using natural light on a cloudy day against a black backdrop. I used my 50mm f1.4 lens at f4.0 and 1/500th of a second exposure at an ISO of 400.
